WERKBESCHREINBUNG / ABOUT THE WORK

Since 2001, Julien Clauss has developed plastic sound work and has developed installations and performances which bring into play the materiality of the soundfiels and the spatial diemension of the sound.

He seeks physically to engage the listener in the process of listening and uses the sound as a means of establishing a relationship between the physical body and space. The confrontation between the human body and various types of sound spaces allows it multiple experiences of perception.
His esthetics of sound oscillates between micro-sound and ambient noise. For his performances, he has developed an octophonic sound system, as well as interfaces and applications for spatializing and real time processing.

He create the 8 channels sound performance Betilyonis with Cedric Pigot, participe with Bluescreen on the net art projects Streamscape and Transversal Memory, and work with Lynn Pook on audio-tactile installations and performance.
He organizes experimental electronic music events in atypical places (highway bridge, clearing, vaults...) and over long durations (from 6 to 24 hours). Since 2001, he also work on the 108 speakers orchestra for Pierre Henry.
